"GIFT OF THE MOON CRAB" is Aristeidis Lappas' first solo exhibition in Germany at Kunstverein Ludwigshafen, showcasing a site-specific installation that fuses painting, sound, installation, and sculpture. This exhibition marks a new direction in Lappas' work, emphasizing multi-sensory experiences that encourage active engagement. The vibrant artworks, featuring rivercreatures and the titular moon crab, reflect on themes of care and healing, using the Rhine River as a metaphorical path through trauma. Lappas explores non-human and more-than-human bodies, inviting viewers to consider the interconnectedness of all life forms in the healing process. The moon crab, inspired by the archetypal imagery of the Rider-Waite Moon tarot card, serves as a guide through the subconscious, encouraging exploration of the complexities of healing and shared experiences of hurt. By creating a comforting space that fosters a connection to nature, Lappas emphasizes that healing is both a personal and communal journey.
